George became the first pioneer female sportscaster in America co-anchoring the popular Emmy Award winning "NFL Today Show" on CBS with Brent Musberger and Irv Cross from 1975-1984. She also co-hosted three Super Bowl broadcasts and six Rose Bowl Parades in Pasadena, California. She was the first female co-host of "Candid Camera". In 1985 she became the co-anchor of the "CBS Morning News" broadcast once again interviewing some of the great newsmakers in the world. Ms. George created and hosted her own prime-time show on TNN called "Spotlight With Phyllis George�.
She had another first when she became the first woman to found her own chicken company � Chicken by George. While raising her young children she started the company in the kitchen at her historic home � Cave Hill Place - in Lexington, Kentucky. Chicken by George is now a division of Hormel Foods � a 3.5 billion dollar company.
George is also an accomplished author of 4 books. Her most recent book is �Living with Quilts� (GT Publishing 1998). She also wrote "Kentucky Crafts: Handmade & Heartfelt: (Crown 1988), Craft In America: Celebrating the Creative Work of the Hand" (Summit1993) and the �I Love America� diet book (Morrow 1984).
George recently had her first acting role as Linda Banks in the huge hit �Meet The Parents,� a comedy starring Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller.
Phyllis has just been named one of the �Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World�. She was also recently named one of the �50 Greatest Women in Radio & Television� by American Women in Radio & TV. She will be featured in their new book �Making Waves: The 50 Greatest Women in Radio & TV� due out in October.
