Shirley Cothran
Denton, Texas

Shirley received her Ph.D. in education using Miss America scholarships. She and husband, Richard, have four children which have inspired her to much community service involvement with children's causes. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Speedway Children's Charities, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to benefit qualified children's organizations. She is seated on her hometown school board. When speaking of her involvement as a spokesperson for the Denton Area Mothers Against Drunk Drivers, Shirley explains, "Being a responsible citizen, adult, and driver is a privilege that is too often taken for granted. When I am able to make a positive contribution to an issue that regards life and death situations, I am anxious to do so."
